Introspection | 2015 - 2016
Through the process of creating a space with combinations of diagrammatic, aerial, and linear perspectives and planar structure, I form an arena in which to observe myself. Occupying the depth of field with the painterly activities of marking, repeating, erasing, and destroying, I create a "charged energy cloud," which is a visual metaphor for my mind: introspective yet unable to hold everything in a constant manner, attentive but changeable. By establishing a visual atmosphere with low saturation colors and rough yet delicate marks, I seek to portray a complex yet tranquil emotional state that reflects my personal journey. The process of painting is meditative, and the artwork is the medium through which I express my emotions.
